Lancaster Turnpike
milestones
- The Lincoln Highway followed the Lancaster
Turnpike in eastern Pennsylvania. That 62-mile road, completed
in 1794, had milestones, one per mile, often on the north side
of the road. You'd think they would be documented, protected,
and highly regarded, yet after 10 years of Lincoln Highway research,
I've yet to find any organization keeping an eye of these markers.

- And so, here are the milestones I've spotted
so far (in a list nearly identical to my book's). Other milestones
found along the Lincoln Highway in Pennsylvania are also included.
Because they are small and easy to miss, others probably exist.

- Markings here are abbreviated (ie, they
usually have "5 M to P" [Philadelphia] not P5, as abbreviated
here). Please honor private property and please use this list
to document and preserve the markers, not to remove them.
